Bonjour Les Amis~
Today, starts my new Monday weekly series, ‘Plus La Belle Vie’--a more beautiful life. With interviews and information about people, places, or things related to sister cities~San Francisco and Paris.
From my living in San Francisco for 20-years and my son completing graduate school in Paris and becoming a French citizen--I’ve been fascinated with the simpatico between these artsy, romantic, techy, and innovative sister cities.
With our thoughts and beliefs the architects of our destiny; and our world poised between enchantment and destruction; I want to kick start the weeks with beauty. Beauty as in coherent parts that create a vitalized whole. Beauty as an inherent cosmic quality. Beauty as a spiritual art form.
Why ‘A More Beautiful Life’ Now~
The Dalai Lama believes the world can be saved and restored by western women. Certainly, Jacqueline Kennedy as First Lady placed a light at the top of the world by her dedication to beauty--and made it Camelot for awhile. For me, it seems there's no greater pledge, life goal, or creed other than...from this day forward I will create beauty in my interior life and in the world.
In the 15th c. when the world was engulfed in shadows, Pico della Mirandola's "Oration on the Dignity of Man" sparked a generation to rise and create miracles.
He said, "We can become whatever we choose to become, we…were born to a privileged position but failed to realize it and became…senseless beasts…the saying of Asaph the prophet should be said of us, "You are all angels of the Most High." …Let a holy ambition enter into our souls; let us…strive after the highest and expend all our strength in achieving it."
